Training & Teams
All cadets receive general training and education in many different areas to adopt a variety of new life skills, a greater sense of responsibility, a better understanding of the duties of citizenship and the development of teamwork and leadership roles. Physical training is also an important part of the program and cadets are tested over the course of the year to mark their personal improvement in different tests of strength and stamina.

As a cadet, you will participate in different activities during the weekly meetings and occasionally on weekends. You will also support your community by taking part in citizenship events such as parades which are organized by your cadet corps.  (This will help you with your 40 hours of community service for high school.) Cadets are encouraged to become active, responsible members of their communities. Cadets also reap the personal benefits of increased self-confidence and physical fitness, learning how to take initiative and how to make decisions.

Youth often participate in the Cadet Program because of the rewards:

  • Sense of accomplishment
  • Recognition from their peers and mentors
  • Once-in-a-lifetime experiences
  • Life-long friends
  • A chance to showcase their talents and maturity
  • Self-confidence, self-discipline, self-esteem and increased self-awareness
  • Community involvement

They also participate in fun activities, get the chance to travel and have summer employment opportunities.

On top of this cadets have the opportunity to join specialized programs & teams that compete in regional, provincial and potentially even national and international competitions.

These teams include:

  • Marksmanship
  • Drill Team With Arms
  • Drill Team Without Arms
  • Orienteering
  • Band
  • Pipes & Drum
  • Biathlon

These teams require extra dedication and commitment as they regularly practice on non-parade evenings and weekends. Rise to the challenge!
